Since 1985, our mahi for the arts has been made possible thanks to a community of generous givers across the country – a growing collective of individuals, whānau and businesses of every age, stage and background.
Our mission?
To collectively fuel a thriving arts community, to make the Eastern Bay of Plenty, and Aotearoa New Zealand a better place. We're 100% run through generous giving and with your support.
Arts Whakatāne promotes, initiates and supports projects and activities that stimulate and strengthen the artistic and cultural life of our community by:
Encouraging participation by all sectors of the community in the arts and other cultural and educational activities
Promoting the arts and arts activities whether organised by Arts Whakatane or other groups, schools or agencies
Facilitating arts activities particularly those that involve a range of arts disciplines and arts groups
Advocating for the arts in the community
