Our community Legacy

Welcome to Arts Whakatāne

Since 1985, Arts Whakatāne has proudly hosted the renowned Summer Art Festival, a much-anticipated highlight of the Whakatāne summer. What began as a single art exhibition has evolved into a multi month-long celebration of the arts, held every Summer.

Arts Whakatāne now provides a space for creatives to flourish all year round and creates a beautiful haven for our community.

Events run by and for our community include…

Molly Morpeth Canaday Award, Jazz in the Park, Art in the Park, Dance Carnival, EBOP Art and Garden Trail, pop-up exhibitions, murals and Light Up Whakatāne.
